Some Steps Towards a Scientometric Analysis of Publications in Machine Translation.

Recently a large variety of evaluation criteria have become necessary prerequisites in academia to allow for proper dis-tribution of (e.g., financial) resources. While many fields have quite some history in evaluating their research in vari-ous directions this does not seem to be the case for the field of machine translation (beyond some effectiveness mea-sures). In this paper we raise some questions in this respect while performing some initial steps regarding a scientomet-ric analysis within the field of machine translation based on some common publications.
