Context-awareness: some compelling applications

It is claimed that, to become credible in the marketplace, context-awareness needs a killer application. Killer applications are rare in most fields, but we believe that there are context-aware applications that can at least merit the adjective ‘compelling’. We present a list of six types of context-aware application that we think are either compelling now or soon will be. In order to present our list, we first discuss a key component of the necessary infrastructure: how context is captured and maintained.
