The paper reviews a cognitive cockpit project that was undertaken to provide proof of concept technical demonstration of computer based intelligent aiding for the military jet combat pilot. The project combined traditional methods for requirement analysis with model based methodology for knowledge based systems. The paper provides results that contain information on requirements for context sensitive aiding with real time pilot functional state assessment, task knowledge management and decision support.
