Bringing Music to the Web

To reduce the number of resources needed for high quality music on the WWW, we advocate the use of client-side sound synthesis techniques. This paper discusses techniques extending the functionality of Web browsers and describes the design of the hymne class library, which is used by the hush Web widget to synthesize the sound of musical scripts embedded in HTML pages.
