The more advanced incident detection and tracking device, that can be used to monitor about 1km length wider area, and severe weather environments, is being developed at SMART1 Highway project in South Korea, which is named SITMS2 Multi-Device automatic incident detection system. The system consists of three elements, which are an array camera, an auto-tracking camera and a radar detector, and can detect incidents, such as a broken vehicle, a traffic accident, an obstacle, parking and stop vehicle on the shoulder lane and non-recurring congestion, in real time. And SITMS Multi-Device automatic incident detection system was installed, demonstrated and evaluated at the test highway, which is located in a Korean expressway, in 2012. In this paper, reasonable methods of the evaluation of newly developed incident detection device are described and its evaluation results are presented.
