THE OPEN GEODATA INTEROPERABILITY SPECIFICATION (OGIS) AS A TECHNOLOGY FOR GEOSPATIAL TRANSPORTATION COMPUTING
John H. Ganter, Cecil W H Goodwin, Demin Ziong · 1995
This paper evaluates the Open Geodata Interoperability Specification (OGIS) architecture as a means of synchronizing databases and achieving process interoperability within two kinds of transportation networks. These are Geographic Information Systems-Transportation (GIS-T) server-nets, and functional networks common in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). The authors describe and analyze examples of potential OGIS use in both contexts that reveal issues of implementation, protocols, and metadata.
