Donald R. Perlis, Khemdut Purang, Divakar Purushothaman, Carl Andersen, David R. Traum · 1999

We describe our work on human-computer coopera-tive dialogue, that uses special "active " logics in an at-tempt to more closely- and more usefully- model hu-man behavior. This effort pays attention to a number of issues, including Gricean pragmatics, logical non-omniscience, reasoning with inconsistent data, lim-ited memory, blending in new information during rea-soning, and models of human communication compe-tence. Time is a chief unifying feature in our approach to these issues.
