Demonstrative Experiment of Probe Information Collecting Systems Using Infrared Beacons

Nobuo Terazaki · 2005

In relation to Probe Information Collecting Systems, many researches and experiments have been conducted in Japan. However, we have been unable to disseminate the systems due to high communication costs. We, the National Police Agency of Japan started to investigate a system that allows public and private sectors work together to collect probe information. By using infrared beacons installed by Police of Japan as a communication medium, private sectors will be able to reduce the communication costs drastically. We carried out a demonstrative experiment to confirm the effectiveness of probe information collected by infrared beacons.
