An efficient method for computation of character tables of finite groups

A systematic procedure is presented for constructing the character table of a given finite group.The u s e of this procedure makes the task of computing group character tables m o r e straightforward than previously published procedures.Each step in the construction of the character tables is illustrated by worked out examples.An appendix of group tables, character tables, and c l a s s algebra tables for many of the common finite groups is included.
