A Method to Implement a Knowledge-Based system for Fast Prototyping of Hardware Designs

This paper presents a novel method and its supporting design environment for managing the reusability of hardware system specifications. The Module Manager is a flexible tool that combines a Database Management System with expert strategies allowing the designer to evaluate alternative solutions according to his (or her) requirements. These solutions are selected from a repository of previous system specifications. Our research effort focuses on providing designers with a flexible and customizable environment to reuse specifications at the system level.
