Applications of Rough Patterns

Pawan J. Lingras · Studies in fuzziness and soft computing · 1998

This paper discusses the notion of rough patterns and its potential applications. Rough patterns consist of a sequence of rough values. A rough value is defined using an upper and a lower bound. Rough values can be used to effectively represent a range or a set of values of variables. This paper summarizes three different experiments that demonstrate the use of rough patterns in neuro-computing. Fuzzy values are also shown to provide potentially useful complement to the rough values.
