The Internet of Things (IoT) is becoming a crucial component of contemporary technological frameworks, providing improved systems across several industries and connecting millions of sensors. However, because of the serious security issues posed by the rapid proliferation of IoT devices, connected devices are now susceptible to a variety of malware, including Distributed Denial-of-Service attacks, unauthorized use, information theft, and hacking. The existing safety methods often ignore the unique characteristics of IoT systems, such as their heterogeneity, distributed nature, and resource restrictions, because they are created for hierarchical IT infrastructures. The work illustrates the value of an integrated approach by presenting a variety of cybersecurity structures and techniques for IoT systems. Device verification, privacy of information, encrypted communication, anomaly detection, and attack mitigation are some of the major security issues in IoT networks that are highlighted. In order to enhance IoT Security, the study clearly explains both traditional security methods that use cutting-edge features like authentication and authorization, detection of intrusions (Intrusion Detection System), encryption, and traffic on networks monitoring, as well as defensive strategies that make use of AI, neural networks, and algorithmic optimization. The concept also investigates improving IoT Security by using techniques for optimization like Krill Herd Algorithm and Grey Wolf Optimization. The nature-inspired algorithms have shown promise in areas such as intrusion detection, secure key management, and resource optimization. By applying optimization methods to security problems, IoT platforms can achieve more efficient, adaptive defense mechanisms that dynamically respond to evolving cyber threats. Additionally, the study discusses the importance of designing scalable, lightweight, and real-time security solutions capable of operating in constrained IoT environments, provides a comprehensive overview of IoT cybersecurity challenges, and proposes strategies and frameworks to improve security and reduce hazards.
