Securing IoT Frameworks with TLS/DTLS Protocols

This survey examines TLS/DTLS-based security for Internet of Things (IoT) frameworks: the role of Certificate Authorities and X.509 certificates, the TLS handshake, the composition of cipher suites, and DTLS for constrained IoT devices — including a combined hardware/software DTLS-engine approach to reduce the computational and memory overhead of certificate-based security.
