Interface links 8-bit chips to provide multiprocessing

This interface, which allows multiple microprocessors to share a common memory, uses a circuit that comprises basically a flip-flop flag to indicate the availability of the common resource-the semaphore-and the serial priority-assignment section. Though the design illustrated uses two microprocessors, it can be expanded easily to interface several processors with common memory.
