Abstract This paper addresses the crucial need for precise performance evaluation in user-centric apps by introducing a novel framework to measure camera application startup time with millisecond precision. The study is driven by the need to improve application responsiveness, which has a direct impact on user experience and satisfaction. The approach uses high frame rate video analysis (120 fps) to record and examine the time lag between the user’s action and the camera preview’s appearance. Frame-by-frame analysis and gray scale filtering are used to identify crucial events, such as the application tap moment and the first non-black frame signifying the camera preview. The determined time difference, based on frame rate, provides accurate launch duration metrics. The system predicts launch timings with millisecond accuracy, allowing for thorough benchmarking across devices and contexts. Experimental findings illustrate its ability to identify performance bottlenecks and provide practical advice for application optimization. The paper contributes to the fields of application performance optimization, human-computer interaction, and image processing by providing a scalable and accurate method to measure launch times. The findings have significance for real-world scenarios such as consumer electronics, security applications, and augmented reality in terms of software architecture and user experience.
