Same Monsters, New Casings (v1.0) Applied Series No. 2 of the Heartbeat Framework, consolidating and extending material from The 24-Hour Team and The Mixed Shift. The trilogy mapped six recurring patterns of difficult behaviour in human teams (Controller, Keeper of Grievance, Coaster, Broker, Martyr, Ghost) and six in deployed machine systems (Oracle, Legacy, Idler, Dashboard, Nag, Silent Partner), presented as parallel bestiaries. This paper reorganises the material around what the parallel reveals: the archetypes are not twelve phenomena but six mechanisms with two casings each — unaudited expert power, institutionalised failure-memory, structural invisibility, brokerage of the information gap, the cry-wolf monopoly on vigilance, and competence-induced deskilling. Each mechanism is substrate-independent, and the effective countermove is structurally the same across species, with one documented inversion: the sound human Ghost should be left alone; the sound machine Silent Partner must never be. The paper then adds the layer the trilogy omitted: the dyads. When a human and a machine occupy the same mechanism niche in one team, the relationship resolves as turf war or as merger — and the merger is worse, compounding the pathology while laundering it as agreement between independent sources. Each of the six dyads is analysed in both modes, with its observable tell — the signature a manager can read from logs and language without a single confrontation, including the "double zero" (no incidents and no near-miss reports as a warning sign, not reassurance) — and its countermove. A one-page field guide appendix compresses the instrument. Handling rules are restated with teeth: lenses on states, never labels for named individuals; human behaviour formulates to management history; machine behaviour traces to configuration and incentive, and every machine archetype carries a return address. The dyad layer is offered honestly as practitioner synthesis — components established, assembly the author's, stated falsifiably via the tells. Machines may be treated more like colleagues; colleagues may never be treated more like machines.
