Comparative analysis of the security of instant messaging apps

Communication through the Internet network is an unavoidable type of data exchanging in a modern society. Ensuring that user experiences a comfortable environment allowing for sending and receiving information is a need taken seriously by a lot of applications with the through Internet communication as their goal. This article is focused on the security solutions provided by the tested instant messengers. The research consists of eavesdropping the network traffic to check the applications’ security during the communication, analysis of encryption algorithms and security of user’s account. Each application was then examined in the context of all the previously listed features. Conclusions were drawn indicating the possibility of choosing an instant messenger that protects end user the most.
