The current software development process depends on software quality in order to fulfill the functional and non-functional requirements besides ensuring that the software is reliable, secure, maintainable, and efficient. With the increasing involvement of software in important sectors of the economy such as healthcare, finance and aviation, quality is gaining significance. Software Quality Assurance (SQA) has also progressed over the years starting with manual testing, rule-based defect detection that has advanced to AI. Deep Learning (DL) and Machine Learning (ML), such as Large Language Models (LLMs), are used in machine learning and neural networks to identify faults, analyze code, and optimize the quality of software in an intelligent way. There is a transformation in software testing. This chapter discusses software quality and its history, as well as the enhancement of software reliability and efficiency by LLMs.
