Multitarget Tracking in Noise

Vyacheslav Tuzlukov · 2026

This chapter provides a discussion about the multitarget tracking in noise. Many kinds of the noise act on the airborne radar system. We discuss the continuous noise, the chaotic pulse noise and interference, the multiple synchronous pulse noise, the simulative pulse noise, the camouflaged noise, and the combining noise (the combination of the simulative and camouflaged noise). The great problem is the airborne radar system noise immunity because the main goal of the noise action on the airborne radar system is to suppress the automated multitarget tracking mode of the airborne radar system. We study how the noise can suppress the airborne radar system azimuthal channels with the linear scanning. Great attention is paid to the spaced diversity (multiple-point) noise suppression of the airborne radar system azimuthal channels. The target trajectory beginning in noise is the considered, too. Special attention is paid to the noise action on the identification, correction, and target trajectory extrapolation stages. Additionally, the problem of the noise action ranking by damage degree is studied. Additionally, the multitarget tracking noise immunity algorithms are discussed.
