Cunjun Hu, Bosheng Su · Theseus (Ammattikorkeakoulujen) · 2026

Second-hand trading among university students had grown significantly, but the security and trust challenges of campus transactions had not been fully addressed. In addition, no existing platform specifically addressed these needs for university students. This project aimed at designing and developing an online platform for buying and selling second-hand products, called Campus Trade, to be used by university students. It was based on software engineering principles, specifically MVC architectural pattern and relational database management. Campus Trade was a web application that was developed using Node.js, Express.js, and MySQL. Secure user authentication, bilingual localization, two-layer image compression, and offline verification code were some of the features implemented in the application. Its security was ensured by testing it against SQL injection, cross-site scripting, unauthorized access, and rate-limiting attacks. In general, Campus Trade was a solution for creating an online platform that university students could use to trade second-hand products. The selected software architecture pattern was effective in addressing the problem of online business between students, and the eight specified features were successfully integrated into the system.
