Performance Design Method for Lifelines

This chapter describes how to formulate a safety assessment for lifeline seismic design according to a performance design method. This is in response to the performance design of structure methods that are currently being actively developed in Japan and abroad. In addition, as a case study, the seismic safety assessment method for post-seismic operation of lifelines designed under the old seismic design guideline and the normal-time risk mitigation measures to ensure the seismic safety of lifelines are described in detail from a performance design method perspective.
