The embedding of lattice-ordered groups in divisible lattice-ordered groups

This paper is concerned with the problem of embedding a lattice-ordered group in a divisible lattice-ordered group. This was an open problem until C. Holland proved that such an embedding is possible, assuming the validity of the generalized continuum hypothesis.
