Chapter 6 is about the prospects for AI to ease the green transition, but also for adding new risks to the burden, on top of the environmental ones. The AI breakthroughs of 2023 caused latent controversies to surface, stimulating popular enthusiasm about AI for help with all kinds of tasks and jobs, including climate and the full environmental burden, also including progress in most disciplines and professions, from medicine to law to entertainment. But the breakthrough also caused concerns over misuse to emerge, including theft of intellectual property and intellectual inheritance, enormous potential for lying and cheating, additions to energy demands of digitalization, and the potential takeover of jobs.
