This study explores an innovative approach for monitoring personnel in military border operations, particularly in challenging hilly terrains where there is no availability of a cellular network. Unlike conventional point-to-point systems, our proposed solution incorporates embedded systems to establish a resilient network structure enabling communication among individuals and a central control unit, thereby optimizing power usage and time efficiency. Each individual is equipped with specialized units containing sensors and modules to gather and transmit vital data to the control center. The network is reinforced with strategically positioned repeaters to facilitate long-distance transmission and ensure data integrity. By amalgamating cutting-edge technologies and network architecture, our initiative aims to overcome the shortcomings of existing systems, fostering improved communication and situational awareness. The proposed research focuses on developing an offline mapping system coupled with real-time geo-tracking of soldiers. This system was tested with a high-resolution image of a 50 km × 50 km area. GPS coordinates were transmitted securely, enabling the control center to track individuals’ locations in real time. Additionally, text messages were transmitted over varying distances, ranging up to 3.5 km, with the Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI) and Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) of approximately –130 dBm and –50 dB, respectively.
