Simulation Modeling

Ferhat Şeker · CABI eBooks · 2026

Simulation modeling is a crucial tool in tourism and hospitality research that allows for the replication of real-world systems and processes in a cost-effective manner. By developing computerized models, researchers can explore various scenarios, test hypotheses, and make predictions without the need for expensive experiments. While simulation modeling excels in capturing system dynamics and managing complexity, researchers must be mindful of data requirements and potential biases. Future research directions in simulation modeling for tourism and hospitality include enhancing predictive relevance, investigating automation and artificial intelligence (AI) applications, utilizing the Metaverse, integrating robotics and AI-generated content in marketing strategies, examining cultural influences on tourist interactions with robots, exploring electroencephalography (EEG) in research, implementing generative AI, studying R-tourism, and leveraging smart tourism and mobile technologies. These advancements hold promise for improving customer experiences, service delivery, and sustainability within the tourism sector.
