Smart home technology adoption is growing in Nigerian urban areas, yet its impact on household management and family life remains underexplored, particularly in contexts characterized by infrastructure challenges. This study examined how smart home technology affects household management efficiency and quality of family life in Kubwa, FCT, Abuja, Nigeria. A survey research design was employed with 382 households selected through stratified random sampling. Data were collected using a validated 25-item questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics and independent samples t-test at 0.05 significance level. Smart home technology significantly improved household management efficiency and family quality of life, particularly through enhanced security, time savings, and stress reduction. However, substantial challenges exist including high costs, inconsistent electricity supply, poor internet connectivity, and limited technical support. Income level significantly moderated technology impact, with high-income households achieving greater benefits and experiencing fewer challenges than low-income households. While smart home technology offers significant benefits for Nigerian households, infrastructural and economic barriers require targeted policy interventions including government subsidies, infrastructure improvements, local technical support networks, and consumer education programs to democratize access and maximize effectiveness across diverse socioeconomic groups.
