RFC 0.871 v4: A Protocol for Distinguishing Signal from Noise in Adversarial Information Networks

Mika-Matias Cajander · Zenodo (CERN European Organization for Nuclear Research) · 2026

Problem: How do you distinguish signal from noise in decentralized networks where any node can lie, and colluding nodes can fabricate consensus? Existing approaches fail because they check identity (who said it) or popularity (how many agree), not structure (does the claim survive independent challenge). Solution: This protocol encodes a structural requirement derived from quantum W-state discrimination: every claim must pass through three independent perspectives (User, AI, Context) that form a closed referential loop (cyclic shift symmetry). "Truth requires three independent perspectives. The triangle must close." New in v4.0.0 (Jan 29, 2026): Production Cryptography: Full Ed25519 Elliptic Curve implementation (identity.py) replaces demo HMAC. The system is now cryptographically secure. Bootstrap Ceremony: A multi-party cryptographic ritual for decentralized network genesis (bootstrap.py). Requires a 2/3rds quorum to establish initial trust anchors. Pure Geometry: Removal of license fields; trust is derived solely from geometric tension ($\Gamma > 0.3$) and fidelity ($F \ge 0.871$). Diagnostic Tooling: Updated hive_meter_v4.py for real-time conversation vitrification analysis. Structural Collapse & Failure Modes: The protocol detects specific topological failures in information processing: O=A (Dogma): Self-attestation (The claimant validates themselves). A=C (Orthodoxy): Methodology becomes the truth (The tool limits the reality). C=O (Circularity): The framework assumes the claim (Circular reasoning). Dynamic Capture Modes: O→A (Sycophancy): Attestor serves the Originator. A→C (Hegemony): Method defines the Framework. C→O (Ideology): Framework dictates the Claims. Key Features: Triangular Attestation: Enforced independence verification prevents structural collapse. $\Gamma$ Coefficient: Distinguishes productive tension (uncertainty→context) from destructive singularity (uncertainty→drift). Trust as Geometry: Distance $d_{ij} = 1/(\epsilon + \text{affinity})$. Echo chambers become geometrically distant, increasing the cost of routing lies. Asymptotic Fidelity Limit: 0.871 (Park et al. experimental ceiling) — treated as a physical constant, not a design choice. Theoretical Foundation: This protocol implements the analytic derivation and geodesic vitrification logic established in the companion publication: Universal Vitrification and the 0.871 Constant (Zenodo Record 18407829).
