Collaborative AI Systems Design

Marigo Raftopoulos · 2026

This chapter examines the potential of using creative and playful participatory methods to advance collaborative stakeholder design of intelligent human—machine systems. We present a set of interactive activities to engage your teams in raising AI literacy while engaging in collaborative co-design of human—machine systems. These activities include (a) three sets of interactive AI design cards — AI Concepts, AI Provocations, and Human Flourishing in the Age of AI, and (b) a collaborative AI design sprint process called Designing Tiny Robots , which also consists of several card-based activities. We argue that collaborative AI system design may account for a fuller range of the socio-technical interactions between stakeholders and thereby improve AI technology design, effectiveness, and adoption. Key message in Chapter 7 : Get creative .
