Intersection of Ethics in AI, Gamification, and Metaverse

Aditya Kumar Gupta, Praveen Tomar, Karishma Kharbanda · 2026

The convergence of artificial intelligence (AI), gamification, and the metaverse presents innovative marketing opportunities but also raises ethical risks. AI technology can lead to privacy concerns, accountability issues, and diminished trust if user data is mishandled. Moreover, biased algorithms can create social inequality and infringe on users&s; rights. Gamification enhances engagement in marketing but poses risks such as manipulation and unhealthy competition, potentially harming vulnerable groups. The metaverse introduces challenges related to privacy, identity, and governance, with issues like continuous surveillance and unequal access. This creates an environment where AI-driven gamification exacerbates addiction and data exploitation. This chapter explores the ethical principles at this intersection and proposes a framework that integrates these technologies while addressing ethical considerations. Additionally, it discusses the TARES model&s;s five ethical principles in relation to AI, gamification, and the metaverse, aiming to redefine ethical practices in light of these innovations.
