Policy Responses to the Evolving Nature of Financial Cybercrimes in India
Kavita Indapurkar, Ayushi Kotwal, Sangeeta Jauhari · 2026
In the wake of rising online presence and digital inclusion of the population of diverse backgrounds in financial activities, online financial deceptions are also on the rise ( Beju & Făt, 2023). The innovative technology is being used by the swindlers in their own interests, and the unaware and negligent people fall into their trap in the absence of an appropriate policy against this. Bermudez -Villalva & Stringhini, 2021). Adaptive policy responses are the key to such issues where technology is involved. Academic research is essential in the context of such policy responses. This chapter presents a systematic literature review that assesses the research activity undertaken on the evolving nature of online financial fraud (Surbhi & Kumar, 2019). Bibliometric analysis is carried out to bring out the aspects used in the available literature. By examining publication trends, influential authors, leading journals, and research hotspots, this paper provides an overview of the current state of research and highlights the emerging trends and gaps. Data is extracted using Scopus and Dimensions, and a VOSviewer (visualisation of similarities) is used for the analysis.
