Selected papers from the 29th European Symposium on Research in Computer Security (by invite-only)

ESORICS is the annual European research event in Computer Security.It started in 1990 and has been held in several European countries, attracting a wide international audience from both the academic and industrial communities.This special issue presents a selection of papers from the 29th edition of the European Symposium on Research in Computer Security (ESORICS 2024), held in the city of Bydgoszcz on September 2024.The program committee of ESORICS 2024 accepted 86 out of 535 submissions (16% acceptance) to constitute the program and the proceedings of the conference.Each paper received at least three single-blind reviews, some of the papers four reviews, and several rounds of discussions between program committee members and program committee chairs, to ensure a fair and high-quality selection process.Then, nine papers were shortlisted, out of which one paper received the best paper award, and two others were granted two runner-up awards.As guest editors, we invited the authors of those selected papers to extend their contributions and submit them to this special issue.The choice of papers is also indicative of the final program, covering timely and interesting topics around areas such as Security and Machine Learning, Privacy and Personal Data Protection, Software and Systems Security, and Applied Cryptography.
