This degree project presents the development of an autonomous card-dealing robot designed to detect the number and positions of players seated around it and deal cards to them. The system integrates mechanical, electrical, and software components to achieve this in a mechatronic system. It uses a repurposed web-camera for player detection and a top mounted DC-motor with a wheel for dispensing cards. The key focus of the project was constructing a robot that could precisely detect players and make single card ejections in a manner that made it possible to distinguish the cards dealt to separate players from each other. The performance was evaluated through several different and focused tests, including distinguishability of card piles, card ejection consistency, and player detection accuracy. Results revealed common failures such as the last card not getting dispensed or multiple cards being ejected at once, especially due to the cards sticking to each other. Despite these errors, the construction could reliably perform during typical scenarios and it proved to be a solid reference for future work and refinement.
