Towards a Hybrid Process for Integrating Systems, Software, and Games Engineering

Developing dependable systems is a non-trivial endeavor and requires the implementation of rigorous processes. Even though modern development techniques enter critical application domains, still, applying agile methods in such systems’ development constitutes a challenge. At the Herman Hollerith Center, we run the Rover Lab that supports research activities in the aerospace domain and, at the same time, provides students with a modern learning environment. The development of integrated hardware and software systems alongside with development of digital twins requires a specific software process. In this paper, we present an initial version of such a hybrid process and its initial evaluation in two instances of the Rover Lab. The evaluation showed the initial version of the process suitable.
