What Is an Information Professional?

It is proposed that information profesionals apply their special knowledge about information and information technology with on basic purpose in mind: to get the right information from the right source to the right client at the right time in the form most suitable for the use to which it is to be put and at a cost that is justified by its use. This mission statement is discussed in light of seven illustrative information careers: account, archivist, librarian, records manager, information systems analyst (MIS), management scientist, and museum curator
