This paper describes an adaptive eLearning model based on learning objects. The user experience is personalized to the individual learner using containers of learning objects which have an adaptation mechanism. These containers also provide contextualization and goals to the learning objects that are now related to a specific learning objective and may evaluate if the learner has achieved it. Learning objects are normally treated as static content by different standardization projects; the adaptive learning objects we propose are dynamic entities. Semantic networks and production rules are proposed for knowledge representation and the adaptive components. This model is based in current standard metadata schemas.
