ON CONVOY-STABLE CONTROL LAWS FOR AUTOMATICALLY DRIVEN VEHICLE CLUSTERS

Michel Cremer · 1992

There are many demanding control problems connected with the task of automatic vehicle guidance which still need considerable amount of research work. This paper describes the problem of automatic cluster management which includes the arrangement, the guidance and the disintegration of clusters. Different approaches for cluster control are discussed and it is shown that a self-organizing single-link structure has most advantages. The concept of convoy stability is addressed next and some new results are presented concerning this property. Then a robust control strategy is presented which is capable to cope with several practical uncertainties while still guaranteeing convoy stability. The efficiency of this concept is underlined by simulation results. (A) For the covering abstract see IRRD 867248.
