A MAGNETIC PAVEMENT MARKING AND SENSOR SYSTEM FOR LATERAL CONTROL/GUIDANCE OF VEHICLES

This paper describes a magnetic marking system designed to provide lateral location information of a vehicle on a road. The system is comprised of a magnetic pavement marking tape and a magneto-resistive sensor. The system is described along with a concept demonstration experiment. Potential applications for the system are also discussed.
