ADVANCES IN COMPUTER-ASSISTED RUNCUTTING IN NORTH AMERICA. FROM THE BOOK COMPUTER SCHEDULING OF PUBLIC TRANSPORT
P M Hildyard, H Wallis · Publication of: Elsevier Science Publishers BV · 1981
The history of the use of the RUCUS runcutting system is traced, and lessons are drawn from the difficulties encountered in achieving regular use by scheduling staff. It is concluded that the original system had no provision for user feed-back, and that its commands were difficult for personnel to understand. The need for an interactive system is presented, and the development of such a system is described. The outlook for scheduling in the future with the aid of microprocessors is examined.
