DATA STRUCTURE AND INFORMATION CODING FOR ITS LOCATION REFERENCING MESSAGES
Demin Xiong, Stephen R Gordon · 1995
This paper addresses two major issues in location information exchange and communication in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). The first issue is to establish a data model and data structure suitable for location referencing information exchange and communication in ITS. The second issue is to provide strategies to encode location referencing information compactly. Five types of spatial data objects are identified, and the relationships among those spatial objects are defined, which together serve as a data model for representing locations that are required to be referenced in ITS applications.
