This paper describes a new method of traffic data acquisition and correlation. Know as the MAVE-system, it is based on pattern recognition and correlation principles. The system analyses traffic condition on the basis of section-related and local data, delivers an electronic road map for authorities and drivers and derives strategies for traffic control.
