FRACTAL APPROACH TO MEASURING SOIL POROSITY
Songyu Liu, Jiwen Zhang · 1997
Pore characteristics of soils are discussed in this paper based on fractal theory. It is found that the structure of soil pore is a fractal (multifractal). Diameter about 0.1 micron can be considered as the scale that divides pores into inner particle and inter particle pores. The pore larger than 0.1 micron in diameter is a main factor influencing soil deformation and its fractal dimension changes from 2 to 3.
