THE APPLICATION OF INTERACTIVE VIDEODISC TECHNOLOGY TO THE NORWEGIAN NATIONAL ROAD NETWORK. SECOND INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ROAD TRAFFIC MONITORING
Robert McQueen, T. Leland · Publication of: INSTITUTION OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERS · 1989
This article described the interactive videodisc method employed to obtain geometric data on the Norwegian national road network. The equipment used was as follows: (a) invent highway survey vehicle, fitted with 2 panasonic f10 ccd (charged couple device) cameras which could acquire a video frame in 1/1000th of a second; (b) insight: an interactive videodisc system for highway information management which enabled still frame images and map photographs to be stored and manipulated in close interaction with a highway database. An important function of the insight system was the ability to superimpose text and graphics from the computer operating system on to video still images from a laservision disc player; (c) inform: a highway database management system. Details of vehicle operation and post survey processing of the video cassette imager to obtain map and still frame images which were then mastered on to laservision videodiscs were provided, including brief details about the still frame extraction, referencing and measurement systems.
