INTERLOCKING DEVICES AND LOW-COST SIGNALLING TECHNOLOGY
Yoshihiro Hirose · 1999
The article examines the development of electronic interlocking devices which began in 1957 for the Japanese National Railways. The system configuration is presented as is an overview of the functions of each of the subsystems that make up the electronic interlock device (P-Model). The development concept paid particular attention to: system execution time; improved system manufacturing process; remodelling; fail-safe design; and system quality. Additionally, hardware safety, software safety; data design; supporting system design; and automatic interlocking functional tests are described.
