This chapter provides a non-technical introduction to uncertainty analysis. The 3 main types of uncertainty commonly encountered in environmental risk assessment are discussed. The techniques to address these are identified. A number of practical analysis issues is highlighted. Only the most relevant methods for risk assessment of transgenic fish are given focus.
