TRACES: THE AGILE TRAFFIC-CONTROL AND ENGINEERING SYSTEM

Jjm Evers, D G Lindeijer · 1999

The paper introduces the concept of agile traffic control as a formal system of interacting distributed processes and presents a generic apparatus for the design of such systems. This traffic control system, called TRACES, defines a control programming language that is grafted on the Java programming language. It provides modules to support the specification and implementation of distributed concurrent event processes. It is equipped with special facilities to control intensive concurrent use of communal resources. TRACES provides a powerful system to program traffic control and to instruct vehicles. The system is generic, flexible, adaptable, and distributed and can handle high traffic densities efficiently.
