RECOGNITION OF VEHICLES IN TRAFFIC SCENES USING GEOMETRIC MODELS
David Hogg · 1984
Describes a computer program which recognizes a single type of vehicle within a range of predefined spatial positions from CCTV image sequences. The program is designed to cope with busy traffic scenes containing unknown types of vehicles set against a cluttered background. Possible applications include monitoring of traffic flow and data collection for traffic light control, requiring the ability to handle degraded images typical of remote CCTV systems.
