PARALLEL PERFORMANCE MEASURES REVISITED

Ismaïl Chabini, Bernard Gendron · 1995

This paper studies classical problems arising in the field of parallel performance measures by using the concept of relative burden. Some advantages of this measures over traditional metrics, such as speedup and efficiency, are pointed out. The literature on related measures is reviewed, and it is shown how to generalize and recover some well- known results of parallel performance theory by using the concept of relative burden. The emphasis is on two traditional problems: fixed- size optimal performance and scalability. Research on the development of parallel software for Intelligent Vehicle Highway Systems (IVHS) is included.
