APPROXIMATE REASONING MODELS FOR ROUTE CHOICE BEHAVIOR IN THE PRESENCE OF INFORMATION
Tsippy Lotan, Haris N. Koutsopoulos · 1993
This paper presents a new methodological framework for addressing route choice decisions. The proposed methodology models perceptions of network attributes using fuzzy set theory, and the decision process using concepts from approximate reasoning and fuzzy control. The underlying assumptions are that motorists do not have precise knowledge of network conditions and that they use rules to make decisions. A case study is presented to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed methodology.
