The application of computerized voice recognition and speech synthesis in automobiles and computers is presented, including applications in industrial production, military equipment control, office automation, and aid for the handicapped. Thus far, automobiles have utilized only the most primitive forms of speech technology - indicating that there is more to these talking cars than sophisticated but quasi-useful gadgetry.
