ADVANCED TRAVELER INFORMATION SYSTEM (ATIS) IN USA : THE ITRAVEL EXPERIENCE

In this paper, the authors describe iTravel, a public private partnership designed to provide real-time transportation information services to the traveling public. The primary components of iTravel include: pre-planned and emergency construction activities; traffic/transit incidents; transit schedules and fare data; real-time highway and transit travel conditions; and, a geographic reference map database system. The paper describes the key elements of the project including project components, system architecture and structure partnering opportunities, project phasing, and both technical and non-technical issues and concerns.
